Due to their ubiquity in day-to-day life, consumer products are often involved in accidents and injuries. It is often unknown whether a product failure is the cause of an accident, or the result of it.
ESi’s state-of-the-art laboratory, test facilities, and analysis tools enable us to conduct multidisciplinary investigations across virtually any consumer product. From kitchen and laundry appliances, furniture, window coverings and blinds, to home and industrial tools, lawn care, retail and industrial products, and toys, ESi is well versed in assisting clients to resolve product-related disputes.
ESi can bring its breadth of engineering specialties to assist clients with product development and product liability issues. Our team provides technical consulting and analysis related to alleged user injuries, product design, materials selection, and technical and safety manuals and on-product labels.
Our engineers, scientists, and technical professionals can reconstruct and test accident scenarios and have assisted manufacturers in safety analysis and pre-release product testing. When unexpected product performance issues have arisen, ESi has applied its expertise to finding root causes and recommending solutions. We have experience dealing with the Consumer Products Safety Commission and assisting clients making recall, back fit, or notification decisions.
If litigation ensues, ESi can facilitate complete investigations from inception to litigation related expert testimony. ESi conducts a wide range of materials and product testing and creates both digital and physical demonstratives.
ESi was asked to perform analysis regarding a vehicle support collapse. While a faulty jack stand was alleged, ESi investigated an alternate hypothesis in which misuse of a pump jack produced the movements and witness marks consistent with available evidence.
ESi initiated a comprehensive investigation, examining the material, its processing, the environment within the vessel and the stresses in the material during service.
ESi was retained by the manufacturer of personal fall protection equipment to perform a safety analysis and documented risk assessment of a newly designed detachable cable sleeve. This product provides fall protection for workers climbing fixed ladders in multiple industrial applications.
This course will educate claims and litigation personnel on what to look for in determining who may have responsibility and liability for incidents involving butane appliances and containers.
