Understanding medical issues in complex investigations requires more than clinical expertise. Our medical staff has extensive experience in the identification and evaluation of critical factors playing roles in workplace and transportation incidents.
ESi’s board certified physicians and support staff are well-recognized in the fields of Aerospace and Occupational Medicine and have both the expertise and the experience to help clients navigate the complex maze of medical, regulatory, transportation and workplace issues. They pair strong academic and clinical qualifications with real world know-how gained over decades of working with and for government investigative agencies, chairing and serving on advisory committees, and contributing to the development of standards and regulations. They are also well-published in leading scientific journals, and sought after presenters at various scientific, industry, and trade organization forums.
Occupational Health and Safety
Implementing health and safety practices into any workplace is good business. ESi's physician consultants provide occupational medical support and accident investigation services to companies and organizations of all sizes. Specific areas of expertise include occupational health questions and policies, ergonomics, medical certification, fitness for duty, ADA compliance, and drug testing.
Major transportation accidents can involve a complex range of medical issues, including pathology, toxicology, perception, cognitive function, medication use, injury analysis, physical standards and pre-existing disease. To further complicate matters, some issues may be specific to certain modes of transportation. ESi’s experienced medical staff has decades of experience assisting government, military, and private sector investigations in all modes of transportation. ESi has on staff physicians who are licensed pilots and have worked extensively on problems related to spatial disorientation, hypoxia, ejection and egress, and man-machine interface. ESi also has on staff a pre-eminent authority for medical certification issues in the trucking and rail industries. In addition, ESi’s medical staff has ready access to important multidisciplinary expertise not readily available to medical personnel in more traditional clinical settings, including transportation, forensic nursing, biomechanics, industrial hygiene, materials engineering, and regulatory and compliance.
When a top loader with its load in the fully elevated position tipped over, the operator claimed that he had sustained traumatic injuries.
Two vehicles collided at an intersection, causing one vehicle to flip onto its side. The front passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained serious spinal cord injuries. ESi used HVE software to create simulations of the crash sequence, and imported the vehicle motion output into MADYMO to model both “belted” and “unbelted” occupant responses inside the vehicle.
ESi's expertise spans dozens of industries and specializations organized across several practice groups, each staffed by dozens of in-house experts with the technical knowledge, hands-on expertise, and courtroom experience required to execute projects for and with our clients from start to finish.Find an Expert Contact Us
