Mr. Lauritsen is a Senior Consultant with Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi) and a licensed professional engineer in several states. He has 20 years of experience in various fields of mechanical engineering.

Ms. Jirschefske is a Structural Engineer and Senior Managing Consultant for Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi), where she works with the Structural and Civil Engineering team. She has over 10 years of professional structural analysis experience, including extensive experience in seismic design, and the design and construction of steel, masonry, concrete, timber, and light gauge metal buildings. She has led building projects in many fields, including healthcare, higher education, laboratory, commercial, residential, civic, and parks and recreation. Ms. Jirschefske specializes in the repair of damaged structures, identifying the cause and extent of structural damage and failures, and providing rapid evaluations of structural conditions in the event of a natural disaster, such as earthquake, windstorm, or flood.

Mr. Daniel K. Carabell is a Regional Operations Manager and Senior Staff Consultant with Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi). Mr. Carabell has over seven years of materials engineering and operations management experience using lean six sigma manufacturing principles. His technical expertise includes corrosion, environmental degradation of materials, fatigue and fracture, inspections, engineering data analysis, as well as characterization and analysis of polymers, metals and composite materials. He specializes in sand casting processing and heat treatment of lightweight metals, such as aluminum and magnesium.

Michael Cleary is a Senior Consultant with Engineering Systems Inc. specializing in freight railroad operations. He has more than ten years of railroad leadership experience in safety-critical, continuous-operation freight environments. His experience includes railroad operating practices, rules compliance, yard and terminal operations, crew performance and actions, incident analysis, regulatory considerations, and technical reporting.

Pablo E. Hurtado, Ph.D., P.E., is a structural engineer specializing in seismic evaluation, reliability analysis, and advanced finite element modeling of critical infrastructure systems. He has broad experience across nuclear power plants, energy storage, and transportation infrastructure projects, including seismic fragility evaluations of structures, systems, and components, soil–structure interaction analyses, and development of site-specific design response spectra.

Dr. Matthew Brach brings over 20 years of automotive engineering experience including time in automotive manufacturing and in the consulting business. His areas of technical specialization include vehicle impact analysis, vehicle dynamics, automotive accident reconstruction, railway grade crossing crashes, and automotive safety. Dr. Brach has analyzed and reconstructed crashes that involved commercial vehicles, light vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, off-road vehicles, locomotives and trains, as well as crashes involving a horse and buggy. These projects have also involved aspects of human factors, visibility issues, and mechanical design issues. His approach to vehicle crash analysis and reconstruction involves the latest software and simulation tools, as well as data acquisition tools.

Dr. Joseph Lawrence specializes in the engineering analysis of combustion, thermal, and fluid processes, specifically regarding the origin, cause, and propagation of fires and explosions. Dr. Lawrence has investigated fires in a wide range of applications including residential structures, internal combustion motor vehicles, hybrid motor vehicles, outdoor maintenance vehicles, watercraft, battery packs, and rail transport applications. These investigations included fire cause and origin determination, burn pattern interpretation, and evaluation of ignition mechanisms.

As Director of ESi’s Technical Services, Dr. Chuck Fox believes that technology has the power to reshape how we experience and connect with the world. He leads our Visualization team in producing groundbreaking visualizations and animations that can be used to demonstrate highly technical and difficult-to-understand concepts. During his 20 years in the litigation graphics industry, Dr. Fox has established a reputation for being singularly focused on client needs – and is often a “go-to” for demonstrative aids and exhibits used in high stakes litigation, where scientific accuracy is paramount and the ability to help jurors clearly understand what happened and why it can make or break a case.

Estanislao “Tanny” Acedo is a degreed mechanical engineer in ESi’s Automotive & Marine practice and brings significant expertise in the design, testing, and failure analysis of light and heavy-duty vehicles. He has worked directly with clients and groups to help develop, implement, and manage specific projects in the areas of vehicle testing, product research, and vehicle verification and validation. Mr. Acedo has extensive experience with hands-on testing. Experienced with fuel system components in Diesel and Gasoline engines, as well as alternative fuel systems (LPG, CNG, hybrid, etc.). Mr. Acedo also has significant experience in project management.

Alexander McCulla is a mechanical engineer in ESi’s Automotive practice and brings significant expertise in the design, performance, and failure analysis of specialty purpose vehicles and equipment used in various industry sectors, including motorsport, oil and gas, and industrial-commercial construction. His experience spans the full lifecycle of these vehicles, including research and development, diagnostic and performance analysis, risk assessment, and failure analysis. Mr. McCulla also has significant experience in project management.
