Dr. Ali Zarafshan has over 15 years of experience in structural, seismic (earthquake) and foundation engineering. He is a recognized subject matter expert of offshore wind, ocean engineering and utility-scale energy infrastructure. His expertise includes fatigue and damage assessment, as well as failure and root cause analysis of pipelines, industrial grade foundations, buildings and structures. Dr. Zarafshan has experience in engineering and performance assessment of structures that are exposed to vacuum environments.
Prior to joining Engineering Systems Inc (ESi), Dr. Zarafshan worked in the offshore wind industry starting in 2013. He secured federally and state-certified designs for major wind farms along the Atlantic Coast, including Vineyard Wind 1 (880MW+) and Block Island (30MW). He also served as a Senior Structural Engineer at Virgin Hyperloop, where he was the responsible engineer for the world’s first operational hyperloop track in the world. Dr. Zarafshan played a key role in engineering and design of NGL facilities and gas sweetening plants in downstream oil and gas industry for almost five years.
Dr. Zarafshan holds a Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in multi-states.
