Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi) is pleased to announce that Drew Paris, P.E., CFEI, CVFI, has joined the firm as a Senior Managing Consultant based in ESi’s Minneapolis office, expanding its electrical failure analysis, fire and explosion investigation, and litigation support services. Drew brings more than 20 years of experience delivering technical investigations, expert testimony, and consulting services, further strengthening ESi’s capabilities in high-stakes fire-related matters.
Drew is a registered Professional Engineer and NAFI-Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator who provides investigation services, litigation support, and expert testimony to law firms and insurance companies, as well as technical consulting for manufacturers and industrial clients. He has conducted more than 1,200 failure analysis and fire investigations involving residential, commercial, industrial, and utility electrical power systems, along with a wide range of electrical equipment and devices.

Drew joins ESi following his role as Technical Director of Forensic Electrical Engineering at Jensen Hughes, where he led a team of electrical engineers specializing in electrical fire origin and cause, system failures, and product testing analysis. Earlier in his career, he worked as a design and manufacturing engineer for Midwest Current Transformer, supporting industrial and utility customers. His background in product design and manufacturing provides a foundation for his work in failure analysis and product liability matters.
Over the course of his career, Drew has assisted manufacturers with root-cause analysis and product safety design, performed design, construction, and code reviews of electrical systems, developed electrical safety training programs for industrial clients, and evaluated specialized industrial machinery for compliance. His investigative expertise includes arc-flash analysis, lightning damage evaluation, and electric shock investigations.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from North Dakota State University and is a registered Professional Engineer in Arizona, Minnesota, and Washington. He is a NAFI-Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator and maintains OSHA HAZWOPER certification. Drew has also contributed to the advancement of industry standards, serving on National Fire Protection Association technical committees related to electrical equipment evaluation and fire investigation, and he regularly presents at industry conferences and professional seminars.
