Charles A. Fox, Ph.D.

Senior Director

Senior Director of Client Development

As Director of ESi’s Technical Services, Dr. Chuck Fox believes that technology has the power to reshape how we experience and connect with the world. He leads our Visualization team in producing groundbreaking visualizations and animations that can be used to demonstrate highly technical and difficult-to-understand concepts. During his 20 years in the litigation graphics industry, Dr. Fox has established a reputation for being singularly focused on client needs – and is often a “go-to” for demonstrative aids and exhibits used in high stakes litigation, where scientific accuracy is paramount and the ability to help jurors clearly understand what happened and why it can make or break a case.

Prior to joining ESi, Dr. Fox served as Vice President at Demonstratives, Inc., where he led the Life Sciences Group in providing a full range of graphics development services for the biotechnical, pharmaceutical and biomedical industries. While there, he directed and managed the end-to-end design, development and delivery of visualizations for litigation involving high tech patents, trade secrets, and personal injury – including one which resulted in a $90 million settlement for the client. The Life Sciences Group also developed sophisticated methods for visualizing and animating the macromolecules and processes that continue to drive today’s biosciences industry.

When you’re working in a litigation environment, you need a strong leader who can connect with his team, and Dr. Fox does just that – the success of our Visualization practice is a direct result of his close collaboration with multi-disciplinary technical, legal and creative professionals to help bring important concepts to life. Whether the project is small and calls for a nimble, creative approach, or large and complex requiring a high level of rigor and detail, Dr. Fox consistently brings a deep understanding of what works for a project, and then rallies the team to execute. He has led the development of 3D animations, high-tech simulations, Flash demonstrations, and PowerPoint presentations, always at the highest levels of quality.

Dr. Fox has an extensive academic background in neuroscience, and is frequently called upon to lend his insights on how visual teaching tools can help improve understanding and retention. He served as a neuroscience postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan Mental Health Research Institute (MHRI) and earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology at Iowa State University. It was there that he saw firsthand the potential of technology – Dr. Fox is proud that his work helps protect intellectual property rights and contributes to the promise of a better future. Dr. Fox also developed a lasting belief in the importance of giving back to our communities, and remains actively involved in organizations that provide support for people with intellectual disabilities.
