Atlanta, Georgia, May 10, 2022 – Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi) is pleased to announce Michael Seyle as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective today. Seyle brings more than 15 years of experience leading and managing the strategic growth of geographically dispersed, cross-functional companies in the professional services industry. He is fluent and practiced in all aspects of technical consulting, with a significant record of accomplishments working with engineering and architectural firms to set, oversee and execute organizational strategy and deliver against top and bottom-line goals.
“Through a rigorous selection process, Mike stood out as a collaborative leader with exceptional strengths in building relationships, linking talent to strategy, and fostering the consensus and action needed to capitalize on opportunities for growth,” said ESi Board Chairman Richard Scharf. “He leads and serves with a people-first approach and a strong focus on operational execution. Mike’s career--and the companies he’s worked for--have been shaped by his ability to match the right individuals to the right high value initiatives and empower teams to do more.”
Seyle comes to ESi from global engineering firm Buro Happold, where he served as President and Managing Director of the U.S. region. While there, he was responsible for leading operations and strategy, and helped shepherd the successful restructuring of a business unit, doubling revenues and achieving double-digit profitability within five years. Before that, he was President and CEO of WATG, a global planning, architecture, and design firm, where he drove substantial year-on-year growth and improved profitability over an 8-year period.
Throughout his career, Seyle’s commitment to the three C’s – culture, connection, and continuous learning—have resulted in a deep and diverse background in areas that are both core and complementary to ESi’s business. His experience managing and growing a large consulting operation is well-supported by his expertise in business planning, operations, law, insurance, finance, and leadership development. Seyle has also worked as a partner at a law firm in Southern California and as Claims vice president for a national insurance agency.
“I’m honored by the trust and faith the ESi board has placed in me to build on the legacy of excellence the company has established over its nearly 35-year history,” said Seyle. “The leaders before me have continually raised the bar in evolving the company’s ability to develop its people and deliver best-in-class service to clients. I’m proud to continue this journey and eager to learn how we can chart new paths to bring value to our employees, clients, and shareholders.”
The rigorous search conducted by our Board included several highly qualified, talented executives from both outside the company and from within ESi. Seyle’s appointment is a clear demonstration of the deep bench of leadership talent at ESi and its commitment to maintaining its current momentum in executing its 5-year strategy, which is anchored in quality, integrity, teamwork, and providing value to clients.
“The board is confident that Mike, together with the rest of the leadership team, will ensure strong execution of ESi’s strategy to build on its industry leadership and take advantage of the significant opportunities ahead,” said Scharf.
