ESi today announced the expansion of its leadership team with the appointment of Adam A. Yala, Ph.D., P.E. to the role of Sr. Managing Consultant in our Civil, Structural and Environmental practice. Dr. Yala is based in our California office, where he brings demonstrated leadership skills, extensive knowledge of structural design, analysis, and construction, and over two decades of experience working on large scale projects involving new construction, renovations and modifications to commercial, industrial and residential structures. Dr. Yala also specializes in the damage assessment and repair of structures that have sustained damage during wind, flooding or earthquake events.
“We are excited to welcome someone with Adam’s depth of knowledge and breadth of experience,” said Dr. Chad Fischer, Principal and Director of ESi’s Civil, Structural and Environmental practice. “Adam has distinguished himself as a technical leader, and is well-recognized for his ability to work closely with clients and anticipate their needs. In the wake of the devastating hurricanes and fires across the country, his expertise and guidance will be invaluable as we help clients rebuild and restore structures in the impacted areas.”
Dr. Yala joins us from Thornton Tomasetti, where he served as vice-president, responsible for managing a team of engineers and leading large scale, complex projects, including building renovation and expansion design, construction management, failure investigations, structural analysis, and emergency response to fire, flood and collapse. While there, he was widely recognized for his work on high profile, multimillion dollar projects, including award winning office buildings and towers, hotels, condominiums, military storage buildings, mixed use facilities, parking structures, residential subdivisions and technology centers.
“I’m thrilled to be joining ESi’s top-notch technical team,” said Dr. Yala. “As buildings and structures become more and more complex, traditional approaches to engineering are evolving, and require expertise across a much broader field of disciplines. It’s not easy bringing together the collective talents of a geographically distributed, multidisciplinary team, but ESi has managed to do just that. What ultimately sold me on ESi though, is its people-centric culture and the opportunity to help mentor and grow the next generation of technical and engineering talent.”
“We’re excited by the rapid growth and development of our Civil, Structural and Environmental practice,” said Dr. Fischer. “Our momentum is attracting world-class talent. Earlier this year, we appointed Andrew Johnson, P.E. in our Florida office to the role of Director of Construction & Building Sciences. With Adam in California, we’re bolstering our technical leadership bench and increasing our ability to respond to client needs across our national footprint.”
