Sangjoon "Jay" Sohn

Sangjoon "Jay" Sohn, Ph.D., P.E.

Senior Consultant

Dr.  Sangjoon "Jay" Sohn's areas of expertise include applied mechanics, fatigue analysis, and fracture mechanics (both ambient temperature and high temperature), with strong emphasis on numerical analysis utilizing the finite element method. With over 10 years of industrial experience in the analysis of mechanical components with leading manufacturers and engineering firms, Dr. Sohn provides subject matter expert level competency in modeling and solving contact and highly non-linear problems via finite element analysis (FEA).

Some of the examples of his work include design and analysis of pipelines, flow control equipment for oil and gas industry, pressure vessels, threaded, and non-threaded connections. In addition to the design and analysis engineering work examples listed above, he has had successful experience in material degradation assessment and residual life prediction of mechanical components of power plants, petrochemical facilities, and refineries.

Dr. Sohn is currently a member of ASME and ASTM. In the past, he has held the position of Chapter President of the South Texas Chapter for Korean American Scientists and Engineers Association.
